The terminology used about tea today often compares the beverage to wine. Is it time to follow the wine trade’s system of appellation d’origine contrôlée and to focus more closely on the way in which teas are named and advertised?

The names of many food products made in specific places around the world are protected by schemes that prevent other similar foods from other origins from using the same name.
